CS LASIK Institute – where local physicians place their trust for laser vision correction

Please listen as Dawn Jewell PsyD, licensed psychologist, shares her LASIK experience at CS LASIK Institute.

Amanda Banas, DO –
Internal medicine specialist

Hello! My name is Dr. Amanda Banas and I am an internal medicine physician in Colorado Springs. I could not be more thrilled with my LASIK experience at CS LASIK Institute.

As a physician and a patient, there were several aspects of my LASIK journey that I was really impressed by. First, I appreciated how the office made scheduling such a breeze. From my initial consultation request, to scheduling my first consult appointment, to scheduling my surgery date and all follow up appointments, the process was as smooth as can be. Along the same line, once my appointments were scheduled, the office appeared to operate very efficiently. Whenever I had to call the office I was always able to speak with a real person in real time and was never placed on a long hold. When I arrived to my appointments, I was promptly checked in and nearly immediately taken back for my evaluation. Most importantly, I felt very comfortable and in very good hands with the medical staff.

It was important to me that I see not just any ophthalmologist with training in performing LASIK, but an ophthalmologist who underwent additional fellowship training to become a corneal specialist- which Dr. Lee has. Dr. Lee’s calm and friendly bedside manner is exactly what any patient undergoing eye surgery should be lucky enough to experience in their physician. He was available to reach post-op when needed for both reassurance and guidance on expected post-op symptoms I had been having (that were very brief, might I add). Dr. Kaminsky, the optometrist who works with Dr. Lee and provided my pre- and post- op care, was an incredible provider. He was patient, never appearing rushed, and answered my many questions with thoughtfulness and knowledge that put my mind at ease. The other medical staff who assisted both in my pre- and post- op care, as well as who were present during my surgery itself, offered kindness and compassion that was immensely appreciated.

LASIK has been quality of life changing for me, and I wish I had done it sooner! My upcoming wedding day was a big motivator for me to finally get LASIK done. It was a true gift getting to walk down the aisle to my now husband and to easily see all of our guests without having to wear glasses. At work, it has been so nice not having my glasses fog up while wearing a mask all day long and when having to gown up in certain patient rooms. Outside of work, my husband and I spend as much time in the mountains as we can. It cannot be overstated how amazing it is not having to switch from my prescription glasses to my prescription sunglasses back and forth when hiking based on weaving in and out of the sun vs shade as well as not having my glasses fog up in rain showers. I am very much so looking forward to getting to ski this winter without having to wear my prescription glasses under my ski goggles. The every day convenience of not having to search for my glasses when running out to the car or sitting down on the couch to watch a movie is just awesome.

Overall, I had a great LASIK experience with CS LASIK and Dr. Lee and his team. I would highly recommend CS LASIK and Dr. Lee to any of my patients or family members.

So many happy people!

The procedure was surprisingly fast and my recovery had little to no pain. At this point my eyes feel normal and I can see well!

            Tommy Boileau
            professional race car driver

My name is Tommy Boileau, and I am a professional race car driver who grew up in the Colorado Springs area. Whenever I am not traveling around the world driving at high speeds, I can be found hiking, mountain biking, skiing or simply hanging out at one of the numerous beautiful sights that Colorado has to offer.

Having good vision is critical in my line of work, and for much of my professional career I was plagued with HORRIBLE vision and stuck wearing glasses or contacts in the race car. In one instance I even sustained 2nd degree chemical burns on my eyeballs after there was an exhaust leak into the cabin of one of the cars that eventually soaked into my contact lenses and left me blind for about 4 days. The pain from that experience really lit a fire to try and make a change.

I decided early in 2023 that I was going to get corrective surgery done. It is a huge decision, and finding the right people to trust with your vision can be super stressful. I had spent hours searching for the right place to get my surgery done, and that is when I found my perfect match with CS LASIK Institute.

Now I can see 20/15 and can focus all my energy towards maximizing my performance behind the wheel. I cannot express how much PRK has changed my life for the better, or how grateful I am to CS LASIK Institute. I have absolutely ZERO regrets and know that the team at CS LASIK Institute is hands down the BEST in the business.

A very happy LASIK patient at CS LASIK Institute!

Thank you, Shea Hairston, for sharing your experience with the world and for allowing us to be a part of your LASIK journey!

CS LASIK Institute – Where trusted professionals go for their laser vision correction

Hi! Most people call me Coach Caroline since I run my own online health coaching business, but when I’m not in the gym you can find me hiking, rafting, or camping – enjoying all that Colorado has to offer.

I have wanted LASIK for YEARS – even way before I used be a raft guide and lived in a tent! Guiding whitewater and living outside was not friendly to my contacts. After that as I started my own business, I was either in the gym with my glasses constantly getting in the way or online writing programs with my contacts drying up.

            Caroline Ofenstein – wellness coach

Now I can go rafting, travel throughout our beautiful state, and workout with ease after my LASIK procedure. I no longer have to worry about how I’m going to get sand off a lens when I’m camping or fogging up my glasses during a workout. And I now deeply appreciate the most simple pleasures like gazing up at a full moon with complete clarity or going away for a weekend without having to pack glasses, contacts, solution, and extra contacts… Not to mention the mountain summits are crystal clear now 🙂

I was a little nervous to take the leap and get LASIK, but it was 110% worth it. The staff at CS LASIK Institute were nothing short of phenomenal and the change in my adventurous Colorado quality of life was worth every cent! You’re making the right choice – just go for it!

            Amy Ochoa – medical professional

Most of the testimonies you read, a patient is transformed by their LASIK procedure and talks about how it has impacted their overall lifestyle. If you’ve ever worn contacts in Colorado, you know what I’m talking about. Nevertheless, my testimony is a bit different, because I’d like to try to connect with the patient who is nervous about surgery or someone touching their eyes, the patient who never spends money on themselves and the never-ending debate of ‘is it worth it?’, and even the patient who may not know who to trust and whether the grass is greener with a different LASIK surgeon.

During my pre-LASIK journey, I had to undergo two separate consultations to reinforce my candidacy for LASIK. On the day of my surgery, there was no doubt that I was nervous. I was brought back to a relaxing suite where I was given some relaxation medication and a bottle of water. After Dr. Lee examined my eyes one last time, I was ready to go. After the procedure was done, I went home and immediately went to bed. When I woke up the next morning, I took off my goggles and looked around my small studio apartment. When I realized I could see the magnets on my fridge, I knew, at that moment, I didn’t need to go to my vanity and

put my contacts in. I realized that after years of debating on the surgery, I had made the best decision for myself. The best part? I was the person who was anxious about surgery, who never spends money on themselves, and who briefly thought about if I should go with a different surgeon.

During this time, I was employed by Dr. Lee and the Colorado Eye Institute. I had worked closely with the CS LASIK staff and I was familiar their protocols. Does that make things easier or less nerve-wrecking? Absolutely not. I had heard from friends and family how ‘just because you work for someone, doesn’t mean you have to see them for your eyecare,’ which was an eye opener to how people felt, and the way people made their decisions. Outside of this ‘what if’ moment, I never had a doubt in my mind that if I decided to proceed with surgery, Dr. Lee was the best man for the job.

During the procedure, Dr. Lee was calm and calming, which immediately made all the anxiety go away. Dr. Lee made sure I was comfortable in the LASIK Suite and when I needed a hand to hold, his ancillary staff, specifically Trisha, was there to lend warming ‘it’s going great, it’ll be over before you know it.’

Today, I work everyday side-by-side a surgeon who specializes in elective surgeries and every day I aim to provide the same warm, familial care that I was given when the roles were reversed, and I was the patient at CS LASIK. This experience will be something I hold with me forever and will preach to friends and family that it is worth it, the nerves will settle, and that Dr. Lee is the surgeon to go with – he and the CS LASIK Institute staff are the greener grass.

My name is Jeremy Schmitz and I’m a Patrol Corporal for the Wheat Ridge Police Department. Throughout my work day, I am contacting people, reading and writing on a laptop, and driving countless miles.

Before undergoing PRK at CS LASIK Institute, I constantly struggled with wearing glasses, especially at work. I have had several pairs break during my duties and during the mask mandate, it was near impossible to keep them from fogging up, creating serious safety concerns. Now that I no longer need glasses, I don’t have to worry about them negatively affecting my life both inside and outside of work anymore. I’ve also gained more confidence in how I look without glasses.

My experience at CS LASIK Institute was truly seamless. I was able to schedule and receive the treatment in approximately three weeks of each other and the level of service and care was second to none. Dr. Lee and his team are extremely proficient and provide a high level of after-care. If you’re thinking about getting rid of glasses like I did, go and get a consultation as soon as you can. You won’t regret it!

Brandon Guerrero – real estate agent

My name is Brandon Guerrero and I’m a local native who grew up in Fountain, CO. I serve as a local real estate agent in the Colorado Springs area. I’m an avid hiker, runner, and just love to enjoy the beautiful outdoors Colorado Springs has to offer.

LASIK has been one of my goals on my bucket list for years. I grew up wearing glasses and as I got older I transitioned to contacts full time. Without contacts or glasses, my vision was horrible! With my field of work my vision needs to be pretty clear most times to spot any defects with properties or when it comes to writing contracts for properties. My LASIK procedure has made life so much more convenient when it comes to work and all of my activities. I researched LASIK and PRK extensively and had multiple consultations with different companies. I ultimately chose CS LASIK Institute because of their professionalism and how comfortable they made me feel about the procedure. If you’re like me and don’t do well with procedures, the whole team made sure I was always taken care of and answered all of my 100’s of questions to make sure I was comfortable during the full process. The team made the procedure so seamless and I couldn’t be happier with the decision of LASIK. If it’s been something you have been considering, I would

recommend getting a free consultation to go over the process and get your questions answered. I’m still in awe everyday as I’m driving through the city admiring our beautiful mountains. The detail has never been more vibrant and clear! Thanks again Dr. Lee, Dr Kaminsky, Trisha, and Michaela. It’s been one of the best decisions I’ve made for my life!
