James Lee, MD

Corneal specialists play an important role in laser eye surgery. Your corneal specialist is an ophthalmologist who has taken on a fellowship along with specialized training that allows him to be a masterful corneal surgeon by utilizing the latest surgical techniques. Dr. Lee is one of the most innovative and efficient eye surgeons in Colorado. With decades of ophthalmic experience, Dr. Lee has been a part of the evolution of modern laser eye surgery.

Specializations

James Lee, MD specializes in LASIK and all modern forms of laser vision correction, customized laser-assisted cataract surgery, keratoconus treatment, corneal and external diseases of the eyes as well as comprehensive ophthalmology. Dr. Lee also performs the most advanced types of corneal transplants including DSEK and DMEK.


Experience

Dr. Lee has published on many ophthalmic topics including LASIK and infections of the eyes. While in college he was published in a major scientific journal as a primary author for his work in molecular biology. He is currently involved in studies for treating keratoconus as well as perfecting new techniques for performing corneal transplants. He held an associate professor position while at University of Arizona.

Education

Dr. Lee earned a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry from Johns Hopkins University and a Medical Doctorate at University of Illinois. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Loyola University in Chicago followed by an ophthalmology residency at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, Illinois. Dr. Lee completed a fellowship in cornea, external disease and refractive surgery at the University of Arizona.

Dr. Lee is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology and is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery and the Colorado Society of Eye Physicians and Surgeons.
